About Hazel Edwards
Best known for 'There's a Hippopotamus on our Roof Eating Cake' series which is 28 years old, and read by millions of children in many languages, Hazel Edwards' 'Hand Me Down Hippo' (Penguin) is the mini,
female cousin, illustrated by Mini Goss.
As 2001 Australian Antarctic expedition writer, Hazel is involved in a pre-school TV animation series called Hot Ice Squad based on Antarctic vehicles. 'Antarctica's Frozen Chosen' (Lothian) is her YA eco thriller and 'Antarctic Writer on Ice' is her expedition diary. 'Antarctic Dad' is her picture book. Cross-media ideas include her Auslan signed DVD such as 'Grandma Leaps the Antarctic'
Melbourne based, Hazel is married with two adult children, and a grandson for whom she writes a story each birthday. Recently she co-wrote 'Cycling Solo:Ireland to Istanbul' with her son Trevelyan Quest Edwards who also helped with Darwin research for YA novel 'Outback Ferals'
Her website is updated monthly and Hazel is interested in stories crossing new media. She is a 2006-2007 National Literacy Champion.
