Non Boring Writing for Your Grandkids
In 2006, childrens' author Hazel Edwards is offering a new workshop on 'Writing for Your Grandkids'. It is especially appropriate for councils and libraries to offer as part of Seniors Week or for Literary Festivals Many retirees become interested in writing their family history for their children, so this is aimed at those 'genis' who have stories to pass on, but need to shape for younger listeners or readers.
This workshop provides skills in shaping those stories, so they will be accessible by child readers and looks at varied formats such as e-stories, photographic and audio stories. The emphasis will be on writing for specific children. Read the article 'Grand Way Into Books - The Melbourne Age August 6th 2006' from Media Monitors.
Prerequisites: An idea to write about and a possible child audience.
Sessions would run 10-3 pm with lunch break to allow regional driving time for participants.
An optional book per participant would be provided at cost.
